The DM7 is Yamaha’s compact large-format console — 120 mono inputs, 48 mix buses, 12 matrix and 144 × 144 Dante, in a frame two people can lift. A Compact version and a separate Control expansion cover the rest of the range.

The console

The DM7 carries 120 mono input channels, 48 mix buses, 12 matrix and two stereo buses. Control is over 28 faders (12 + 12 + 4) and three multi-touch screens — two 12.1″ plus a 7″.

Local I/O is 32 in / 16 out analogue, with 144 × 144 Dante and 18 × 18 USB audio. The power supply is redundant and built in. It is 793 mm wide and 23.5 kg.

DM7 Compact

The DM7 Compact keeps the same 48 mix buses, 12 matrix and 144 × 144 Dante, with 72 mono inputs, 16 faders (12 + 4) and one 12.1″ screen alongside the 7″. Local analogue is 16 in / 16 out.

At 468 mm wide and 16.5 kg it fits where the full DM7 will not, and it rack-mounts with the optional RK1 kit — useful for broadcast trucks and fixed installations.

DM7 Control

The DM7 Control expansion adds two faders, 16 user-defined keys, four control knobs, scene memory controls, monitor A/B, a panner and a jog wheel — the physical controls that otherwise live behind a screen page. It has dual power supply options and weighs 7 kg.

Software packages

Two optional packages unlock workflow-specific features rather than generic processing:

• DEK-DM7-BR (Broadcast) — Mix Minus, Fader Cue Release, Back Stop PFL, Audio Follow Video, Source Selection Mix Mode, Loudness Meter, Meter Scale and 5.1 surround.
• DEK-DM7-TH (Theatre) — 4 Bank EQ/DYN, Actor Library, DCA Preset, DCA Scene Grid, MIDI Output Event on Scene and AFC Image Control.

PY slot cards

• PY64-D — 64 × 64 Dante with primary and secondary ports and sample rate conversion, 96 kHz / 32-bit.
• PY64-MD — 64 × 64 MADI on two BNC in and two BNC out with SRC, 96 kHz / 24-bit.
• PY8-AE — 8 × 8 AES/EBU on D-sub 25, 96 kHz / 24-bit with input SRC.
• PY-MIDI-GPI — 5 in / 5 out MIDI on DIN, plus 5 in / 5 out GPI on D-sub 15.

Where it fits

DM7 lands between a compact digital desk and a full large-format system: enough channels, buses and recall discipline for broadcast, theatre, corporate events and houses of worship, in a frame that travels. Where the requirement is genuinely large-format, the RIVAGE PM family remains the answer.
